Black and white staged portrait of the female African American a capella singing group "Sweet Honey in the Rock," who performed at Denison University on March 30, 1990 as part of the Vail Arts Series. The portrait includes six women, four standing and two sitting. From left to right: Ysaye Barnwell, Nitanju Casel, Aisha Kahlil, Shirley Saxton, Bernice Johnson Reagon, and Evelyn Marie Harris. Shirley Saxton, who is the daughter of hearing-impaired parents, stands at the center signing the word "interpret."
