Abstract
This is a wonderful story about a little bird named Tico who at the beginning of the story has no wings. He is visited by the Wishingbird, who grants him a pair of beautiful Golden Wings. Tico loves his new wings that allow him to reach new heights, but he is criticized by his friends for being different, and goes into exile. He soon meets many poor people who need his help, and he helps them by giving them golden feathers. Every time he gives a golden feather away, a black one grows in its place. After he has given away all of his golden feathers, he goes back to his friends who then embrace them. He is happy to look like everyone else, though he knows that deep inside he still has something different inside his heart.
