Prologue: A First-Year Writing Journal

Prologue: A First-Year Writing Journal is an annual journal of academic essays created to showcase first-year writing at Denison. The journal provides many of these students with the opportunity to have their works published for the first time. The selection process begins with many first-year students submitting their essays anonymously during the spring semester. Next, the editorial board carefully reviews the collection of pieces submitted and selects ten pieces for publication. Then each of the ten current Writing Center consultants review one of the selected essays and write a commentary to accompany the piece. These commentaries highlight the strengths of each essay.
